TRICKLE UP SUMMER FIELD INTERNSHIP IN HAITI 2002

The Trickle Up Program is an international, nonprofit organization dedicated
to microenterprise development. Trickle Up provides seed capital grants and
basic business training to very low income and disadvantaged people to start
their own businesses. The program is implemented with the assistance of
local organizations-most often grassroots NGOs involved in various
development initiatives.

The Field Internship Program lasts from six to twelve weeks between June 2
and Aug 15, including five days of training at Trickle Up's office in New
York City from May 28 through June 1st. Selected interns are responsible
for all transportation and living costs in New York and in the field, and
are strongly encouraged to seek funding from their university or elsewhere
to finance most of the internship costs. Trickle Up provides a stipend of
$500 to interns and assists in locating low-cost accommodation in the field.

Trickle Up's Americas Program is still accepting applicants for its summer
field internship position in Haiti. The internship involves carrying out
site visits to new local Trickle Up partner agencies and assessing their
existing programs and effectiveness as Trickle Up Coordinating Agencies.
The intern will also visit microenterprises and interview
microentrepreneurs, conduct one or more training sessions with Coordinating
Agency representatives, and perform outreach to potential funding agencies
and Coordinating Agencies. The intern will also assist with coordination,
logistics and facilitation of a three-day in-country Coordinator workshop
led by Trickle Up Program staff during a visit to Haiti in July.

For the internship the following is required:
	*	Fluent spoken and written French and/or Creole
	*	Good interviewing and communication skills
	*	Previous experience working in remote regions in developing
countries
	*	Ability to adapt to a variety of conditions and cultures
	*	Enrollment in a graduate program in a relevant field, such

	*	Strong communication and interviewing skills
	*	Strong English writing skills

development
	*	Previous experience in community/grassroots development
