Jean Dominique was never, in any way, shape or form, a member of FL, as
Michelle Montas can tell you. He was a partisan of participatory,
transparent democracy and government accountability. There's a big
difference there, especially when you look at the way Haiti is being run
these days. The constant "black hand" references of Lavalas apologists
cannot expunge the fact that, within days of the May 2000 victory, FL
officials in the Artibonite and Plateau Central regions began attempting to
re-institute the chef de section system that Jean Do had worked so long
against, that a narco/military wing exemplified by Toussaint, Celestin
Malval, Rommage et al has succeeded in wrapping it's hands around the throat
of the government and that the participation of the popular movements in
Haiti was buried under an avalanche of government corruption and lavish
spending from the state coffers. Jean Do would never have stood for it, any
more than he stood for the machinations of the Leopold Berlangers of the
world.
