NEW DOCUMENTARY ON GLOBALIZATION GETS PHILADELPHIA PREMIER

ŒProfit, and Nothing But!ı, a new documentary film by internationally renown filmmaker Raoul Peck, will have its Philadelphia premier at 7:30pm on Saturday June 1, in Pilling Hall at the First United Methodist Church of Germantown (FUMCOG), 6023 Germantown Ave., Phila., PA.

Following the film, Dr. Marie M. B. Racine will provide commentary on the film and on globalization. The evening will conclude with a reception and book signing; Haitian refreshments will be available. The screening is being hosted by the Fonkoze Development Fund of Philadephia, along with the FUMCOG Haiti Committee. Tickets are $10 and will be available at the door. Proceeds benefit Fonkoze.

The film illuminates the negative effects of globalization and the profit motives of capitalism on the worlds poor. To do so, Peck uses his native land of Haiti as a canvas to paint a picture of its oft-times devastating reality.

ŒSuperb! A complete and thought provoking analysis of the current global economic system.... (Profit, And Nothing But!) provides important insight into the realities of todayıs global economy, and does so in a manner that is simple in its explanation, yet far-reaching in its conclusions.ı ‹ Economic Justice News
