• 1871, Aug. 31 Msgr. Guilloux. (Heinl, p. 272.)

• 1892. Msgr. Morice. Archbishop Msgr. Julio Tonti, 1st Vatican nuncio. See Heinl, p. 504. Archbishop Conan: opposed to occupation.

• 1953, May 31. First Haitian bishop. Remy Augustin. Heinl, p. 563 Duvalier expelled him in Jan. 1961 and the Vatican excommunicated Duvalier. (p. 611 Rodman: Black Republic.) Augustin was under Archbishop Jospeh Le Gouaze. (p. 63.)

• 1957-59 Archbishop Poirer. Frenchman (Heinl, p. 576 ff. also p. 609.)

• 1961-1964Duvalier expelled Bishop Alfred Voegeli, Wallace Turnbull and all the Jesuits. (Heinl, p. 611.)
