PROGRAM:

National Museum of Women in the Arts Literary Series presents Marilene
Phipps
Friday, April 12, 2002, at 7 p.m.

Discover the people and culture of Haiti with poet and painter Marilene
Phipps, author of the award-winning Crossroads and Unholy Water.  In her
work, she deals candidly with the dichotomies of wealth and poverty that
plague her homeland and explores the strong sense of spirituality and family
that pervade life there.  A reception and book signing follow the program;
books will be sold at the event.

This program is held at the National Museum of Women in the Arts, 1250 New
York Avenue, NW, Washington, DC
(two blocks north of Metro Center)
Reservations required.
Tickets are $10 general; $7 museum members; $5 students
